Whereas, I understand that immigrant equality is expected to be an issue on the 2010 ballot.
and whereas we expect to have a lot of work to do through and beyond 2012, regardless of what happens in 2010, and whereas we need to be forming coalitions with other people fighting for equality,
therefore I am resolved to be involved in the struggle for immigrant equality,
further, since OCEC legal has been involved in obtaining 501c status for OCEC,
I would therefore like to solicit OCEC legal's assistance for an immigrant rights group that is currently
looking into establishing 501c status.

I agree with Eric. given the 6-1 decision, there is virtually no chance the rehearing will be granted.

Dean,

Someone filed a petition for rehearing, asking the California Supreme Court to reconsider its recent Prop 8 ruling. It is a routine procedural request that is often made and rarely granted. I don't know the basis of the request, or the party that filed it, but I seriously doubt the 6-1 court is going to rehear this case. The next opportunity for change on Prop 8 will likely come from the federal court case filed by David Boies and Ted Olson or from the 2010 election.
